FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

INFORMATION FOR CAMPS

Q: How do I get started?

A: Register your camp. Once you validate your free account, you’ll be able to scan and search through the available staff applicants. You can check out their skills, locations, etc. You’ll then be given the opportunity to upgrade to a premium membership.

Q: What does a premium membership get me?

A: A premium (paid) membership allows you to see full staff profiles, including contact information, and a whole lot more information on each candidate. Then you can move forward with your hiring process on your own terms. Also, shortly you will be able to post jobs for potential staff to search through.

Pricing model: Our annual subscription fee is $500 for an unlimited amount of hires. Once you’ve made a hire, we ask that you self-report this through a link in your dashboard. This helps everyone since it will keep the database as up-to-date as possible. We’re also asking the staff to do the same.

Q: Why should I provide a camp profile and specific job listings?

A: This information will allow staff members who have created a profile to learn about your camp and available jobs. If they think your camp may be a good fit for them, they can choose to contact you.

Q: Why is CampGig better than the other sites out there?

A: CampGig is designed to be the most useful matching/search tool for camps and camp staff. Our staff and site provide great guidance on helping to find you a great CampGig. We help candidates and camps navigate internship, work experience and practicum requirements for university programs such as outdoor leadership, nursing, education, social work, and child development, as well as vocational training programs such as culinary school.

Our site offers detailed, multimedia profiles, a great search engine, and the ability to save favorite staff and searches for the future. We work continuously to improve our site, offering state-of-the-art search techniques, and modern dynamic staff profiles. We also want to learn from you. Periodically, we will send out surveys on your experience with us, we hope you’ll engage in our interactive approach and provide your feedback in order to help us provide the best camp/job search options available!

INFORMATION FOR STAFF

Q: How do I get started?

A: Simply register for your FREE staff account. You’ll be able to create a detailed profile, including your availability, skills, photos, video, experience, and what you are hoping to find. Tell camps all about why they should hire you! Enjoy the process, the more you put in, the more you’ll get out – we promise!

After creating a stellar profile, there are two ways to find your Camp Gig:
(1) Camps will search for what they need and contact you. Candidates with strong profiles are often contacted by multiple camps within the first week!
(2) Peruse the job board for jobs and camps that are of particular interest to you. Once you’ve created your profile you will be able to search the database of jobs listed by our camps and find the right fit for you. Please note that not all camps post jobs, and those that do don’t post all of their open jobs.

Q: When should I sign up or update my profile?

A: As soon as possible! Camps generally start hiring in October for the following summer. The sooner you get your information out there, the better your chances are to have your CampGig locked in months in advance! We deactivate all profiles each fall, so please follow instructions in the email you receive when this happens to reactivate and update your profile if you are looking for another Camp Gig this year.

Q: What should I put in my profile?

A: Anything that you think will show off your qualifications and general awesomeness! Be sure to fully communicate your skills and past experience, but also include photos and video to make your profile memorable – these are a MUST!

If you are looking for an internship or documented work experience to satisfy your school or educational program’s requirements, please mention this in your profile so camps can start thinking about how to create or find a position that works for you!

This site was started by camp owners, and we remember the best videos years after some of our favorite staff were hired. The best photos show you working with kids or showing off your camp-relevant skills. The best profile videos are fun, action-packed, a bit quirky, and tell camps why they should hire you.
